Tigers may turn to Windass

Hull City manager Phil Brown has hinted that Dean Windass could be handed a first Premier League start of the season in this weekend's clash against Portsmouth.

The 39-year-old has been frustrated by his lack of first-team action so far this term and has been linked with loan moves to a host of clubs including Leeds United and Doncaster Rovers.

However, Brown is willing to turn to Windass and former Bolton Wanderers midfielder Stelios as he attempts to end the Tigers' four-match winless run and may also hand a chance to reserve team regular Ryan France.

Brown told the Hull Daily Mail: "Reserve team football is all about attitude, not ability.

"When you go to see reserve games you're looking at quality players from the top opposition teams but you're also viewing the fitness levels and mentality of your own players.

"Windass, Stelios and France have all given me food for thought for Saturday."
