Brown happy with City display

Hull City manager Phil Brown was content with his side's performance in the 2-2 draw at home to Manchester City, which ended a run of three straight league defeats.

The Tigers' superb start to the season had faltered after losses to Chelsea, Manchester United and Bolton Wanderers, but Brown felt that the performance against City gave cause for optimism.

He told the Hull Daily Mail: "That little bit of luck in front of goal wasn't quite there, but what was there was a desire to get something from the game.

"It sets us off running again. You're pleased with points in the Premier League no matter how you get them and whenever you get them.

"Whether we deserved three points or Manchester City did, it doesn't matter, I think we're both pleased with getting off with something from the game on the back of three straight defeats.

"You get confidence from winning games, from scoring goals and playing well, but you also get confidence from draws against high-quality opposition.

"We've got a draw and I don't think anyone can say that we didn't deserve it.

"In the second half I called for a charge and the players came out of the traps well. The players carried out to the letter of the law everything that we asked them to do.

"Full credit to the players, they deserved something from the game, although I know it could have gone either way."
